Hi all,

I was recently accepted to transfer to LS&A at UMich as a Junior in the Fall of 2011. I grew up in Ann Arbor and am very familiar with the University socially and campus-wise, but I am concerned academics-wise because I am transferring from a notoriously awful school - Eastern Michigan University - where I hardly had to exert any effort to get the 3.86 GPA/41 credits that got me into UMich in the first place.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who had gone through a similar process had any advice. Should I expect a ton more work? Harder grading? Bigger classes? More homework?

Also, I have been living at home (in Ann Arbor) and commuting to EMU every day. This fall semester will be my first time living away from home, and I worry that it might make it harder to get good grades because it's a change, there's lots of new independence, etc.

I proved to UMich with my high GPA and obvious dedication to school that I would be able to handle their curriculum, but now that the ecstaticness and excitement of finally getting admitted to transfer has worn off, I'm starting to get a little bit nervous. I want to go to grad school and so I need to maintain my excellent GPA!

Anybody have any advice? It is greatly appreciated.
