Advice. Minor in Quantitative Science or National Security?

Hey guys, so I’m majoring in Political Science, and I go back and forth between wanting a career with political data, or wanting do be a political analyst for an agency. But I’m currently torn on a minor. My school offers a National Security studies minor, which has almost every class that I’m personally interested in and would be very easy for me. Or there’s a Quantitative Social Science minor, which focuses on scientific research, but has multiple stats and probability classes, which I really struggle with. Any advice on which is more is more beneficial in the real world? National security would be the easy route personally, but is quantitative science that much more in demand? Thanks !

I think the answer to your question is in your post. You say that national security studies is personally interesting to you and that you struggle with probability and statistics. If you are very interested in national security studies, then you should minor in that!

Yes, quantitative social sciences are in high demand in the work force (this is my field, so I am biased, and I do not know how national security compares because I’ve never been in that field). But you have to be GOOD at what you do for the demand to work in your favor. If you are simply mediocre or struggle, it’s not going to be as helpful. On the flip side, you can go minor in national security and really excel at that and be that much more competitive.
