I'm a current freshman and am thinking about transferring for fall 2011. Two of my favorite professors from last semester have been nominating me for numerous positions, and I know that they think highly of me. These are also the two professors that I would like to get recommendations from? I don't want to disappoint them and say that I may be leaving, and jeopardize my chances of getting opportunities for next year. What do I do? How do I approach this? I love my college academically, but am not a fan of it socially.

Well, not all colleges require recommendation letters. If you don’t want to ask your professors for letters, perhaps consider schools that don’t require them. To be honest though, your professors may think highly of you but, any good professor would want a student to excel AND be happy. I don’t think they’d be disappointed if you chose to go to a school where you felt you’d be more comfortable.

alright thanks. a few of my schools require 1 or 2 professor recs.
