Your sharing portions of your appeal letter was well-intentioned, but i am certain a substantial number of people on this message board will use them to abuse the appeals process. After all, if they were reject and don’t appeal, they definitely won’t get in. But if they appeal, they just might get in. I won’t be surprised if 95% of the appeal letters that the berkeley appeals committee will receive are identical. (people are probably frantically copying and pasting your appeal letter in their appeal letters as we speak)

I know, chemebrown. That’s the sad part. I know some ****** will make stories up just to try to get in here.

t1lui, yes, I did provide proof of all this. One of my recommenders (which I forgot to mention) was my Spanish teacher for two years and knew about my home life. In total, I had 6 letters of rec, not 5 as I previously stated. He vouched for me in his letter and explained his accounts of what was going on in my life. I also provided proof of my social services case and anything else I could get a hold of to show I was not bull*****ting. I had two students from Berkeley who heard about my story help me out with the appeal, and I think they even went so far as to get some faculty to vouch for me as well.

If anyone tries to make anything up, be prepared to back your ***** up.

Good luck!

UCB will audit a fraction of all applicants. This can take some time. We have heard of students who were removed from the dorms after attending a few weeks of classes, once the evidence of misconduct was uncovered. Those who choose to embellish should be prepared in case they are asked to substantiate their claims.

just delete the post? before it gets out of hand haha. thanks berkeleylatina, i already have proof and 2 recs down. But i heard from another persona (successful appeal) that they had no proof and still got in… wierd.
