I want to appeal. Where do I begin?
Has anyone here ever been accepted through appealing process?

jeez I guess you really want to go to UCB huh? What was with that dramatic "break up" you had in the rejection thread?

ill trade my UCB for your UCLA

itchy, you've got a deal. Now we just need to contact the schools.

Oh, if only things worked that way.

The chair of the sociology dept at my community college called Berkeley's admissions dept. on my behalf and asked about the process for appeals. It requires 2 letters of rec. as well as a significant appeal letter. In my case, the reason Berkeley gave for my rejection was that I was strong, but there were so many strong applicants, and they can't offer admission to every strong applicant :|

12,000 transfer applicants 3,200~ accepted

I'm bummed but it's not the end of the world. I'll probably go to UC Davis if they don't reconsider.

I have heard of several people being accepted. However, it is historically a low probability being accepted through appeals. What they do is they have a group of senior faculty review your appeal letter to see if they believe you should be admitted. Once that happens, the dean (or some other person that I can't recall the name of) decides if he wants to admit you or not.

I just sent my appeal letter out a couple of minutes ago.

What I did was write a letter laying out information that was not in my original application that could have made a difference to your decision. It has to be information that wasn't originally in your application. Stuff like you took extra courses that you didn't mention or something personal that happened to affect your GPA.

oorah87 - jeez is it wrong to want to go there?

so what? I'm just really sad.

Either way I'm sure you have a bright future ahead of you. So don't worry.. be happy! Toooo tooo tootootoolu tootootu tootootootooooo

I will be appealing soon. There were courses, after the deadline, that I had forgotten to add which would've affected my admission.

I'm a little unsure about appealing, but I might try it for the hell of it. I didn't take three semesters of foreign language (which I HATED), additional english classes and wait six months for nothing. I'm think I'm going to go for it because it's the last option I have if I want it. Plus it never hurts to try and cmon, how bad can it be to get reject twice. The second time around is always much easier ; )

After my boss ****ed me off today - the anger hit me. I'm upset because of all the effort I put into going to this UC, not just transferring. Anyway, I picked up some magners cider, order some sushi and put queen on. I'm going to enjoy the last part of my day whether I want to or not . I suggest you all do the same.

How do you find out if there is some other significant reason for why you were rejected, other than the competition? Like youre missing something and are able to explain it

Call the admissions office? Or have a prof. call a counselor at Berkeley like my Prof. did.

too lazy to write an appeal letter...

Berkeley is random. I got in without doing any preqreqs. 3.7GPA

I am going to UCLA. I have visited both a few times and Berkeley is just not my scene. UCLA is a better college atmosphere and is very close in ranking. Also the alumni network is better for UCLA students in los angeles.

People say that a lot...
i havent visited ucla
but im so torn right now...can't even describe this sadness in me

UCBorUCLA, didn't you get in UCLA? I thought that'd be a done deal, considering your name? :o

lol alansda

my dream is ucb so I'll take advantage of appeal. but if i still don't get in, then i guess i don't belong there and it's fine

lol, I wouldnt bother cuz I am true Bruin. jajajaja

I got into UCLA but I'm going to go to UCD if Berkeley doesn't reconsider. I effing hate LA. I've spent my entire life in this scene and I need to get out of this bubble.

So what NEW and COMPELLING info did you guys mention in your appeal. Did you send letters of recommendation or any other kind of documentation?

How was Berkeley different?
