This is my first time posting; I hope I havent made any mistakes!

I am currently a high school sophomore and have started to think about my classes for next year. I have come across a dilemma; I need to decide if I would be more beneficial to take AP Biology or advanced/college level photography.

This is the basic schedule Im considering:
1. Honors English III
2. Spanish II
3. Precalculus
4. AP Psychology
5. AP Environmental Science
6. World History
7. Advanced AP Photo OR AP Bio

As you can see, I am already taking a science class (APES, as environmental studies are my passion and ideal major) so I would still be taking a science even if I cut out AP Bio. The other option is to cross off AP Photo; however, I am hesitant to do this because art plays a large role in my ECs and is my only non-academic course.

Advice would be extremely helpful! Thank you all so much for your time.

If it largely ties into your extra curricular activities then you should probably just keep it.

Thank you for replying! Photography doesn’t play a HUGE role in my extracurricular; I am very interested in working outdoors and have spent most of my time volunteering with environmental leadership groups. I am also actually involved in my schools Environmental Club. However, my photo teacher seems to think I should continue with my art.

Your advice is very helpful; I am pretty sure I’ll go with photo (:

Well obviously your photo teacher wants you to continue with photo, lol. But I agree with post #2. Photography will help show colleges that you don’t just study all day long and have other ECs. Plus, junior year is stressful as it is with SATs and keeping up your grades, I don’t think you should take another academic AP. Ordinarily, I’d say take Bio over APES (Bio is viewed as a more challenging class) but if you really like environmental science (and it seems to be a big part of your life) then maybe APES is better for you and will bolster the story you’re going to present to colleges. Maybe you can take AP Bio in your senior year?

If you are planning to take the Bio SAT2 it might be a good idea to take AP Bio this year for a may or june test date. However, I suggest you consider swapping out AP Psych for AP Bio and keeping the photography. You could take AP Psych next year. If AP Bio isn’t relevant for your SAT2 testing, then you could simply take it next year. It is probably a good idea to take it at some point since it is related to your major interest. Considering your interest in art, I think it would be good to keep the photography.

if you have to choose between the two, then i would go with ap photo
