Hey! I am going to be a junior and I was wondering...
Should I drop my current Photography class to take AP Environmental Science instead?

My schedule for next year looks like this:
AP Physics B, Spanish 3, AP US History, AP Calc AB, Newspaper, AP Language/Comp
So not too bad. I could only see APUSH as a potential time waster but other than that, it shouldn't be too bad, right?

And here's my situation:
I could either take Photography or take AP Environmental Science (thus doubling up on science) and take Photo next year as a senior. I know that junior year GPA is the most important so I would rather take the extra AP now, you know? I am a bit interested in Environmental Science, sure, but I would want to take it mostly to improve my GPA. I know that that's an awful thing to say, but let's be practical, many of us load up on AP courses to "impress" colleges or have higher GPAs to level with other kids out there.

Thank you!

Take photography. As much as a college wants to see a rigorous schedule, it’s also important for you to pursue your interests in high school.

I would just take photography. AP environmental isn’t exactly a highly regarded exam in most colleges minds. I’d take photography if you are interested in it & you could probably self study enviro if you were interested in that also. That’s just my view. Ultimately, the decision is all yours. Don’t decide every class based on, “how it will look to colleges.” I do agree with ^, take a few classes that you have a genuine interest in. Good luck with the decision.

Take apes cuz o thonk ur mindset is right. Plus photo woul be chill senior year

Please take photography. You could always self-study the AP Enviro Sci exam if you really wanted to.

If it were me I would take APES Junior year and Photography senior because photography would be a lot more relaxing and it would give you a fun class senior year. HOWEVER that depends on whether you’re just deciding on what year to take them or if you take photography this year will you take something else fun next year instead of ES?

^ Hmm, I would have to take Photo senior year then. But I was also going to do ASB senior year so that may conflict with my arts requirement?

Take photography as a junior.
It’s pretty obvious to colleges that APES paired with Physics is just a schedule buffer.
Besides, colleges hold little to no regard for APES, so unless you’re planning on being a science major, I’d go with photography.
Besides, photography is so much fun!

Photography.

Who knows, maybe you could use the set of newfound photography skills to compliment your journalistic activities.

Plus, the photography might be a nice balance to the stress of your academic courses.
