Not sure where else to turn to for this, except to those of you who have gone before. Does anyone out there have experience with dance knee pads for guys. Some of S’s upcoming auditions request that male dancers bring knee pads. I’ve looked at some dance sites and also info related to playing volleyball. Most of the sizing seems to be geared for females and most of the complaints seem to be regarding “too tight”. Any insights on what to purchase for a slim, 6’2" male with “dancer” legs?
What about wrestling kneepads?
There’s a thought. I’m wondering if “slide-ability” would be different for a wrestler?? In volleyball “sliding” is important - and I’m guessing it’s the same for dancing?? Any experts out there? Thanks for the suggestion @lovetoact. I’ll check into wrestling.
On Amazon some of the descriptions have the measurement (inches) rather than just S, M, L or XL.
@mom4bwayboy one issue I’m thinking for wrestling kneepads would be that the skinnier boys in wrestling would also be shorter, while the taller boys would more likely have thicker legs, so that might not work for a tall, lean dancer. Volleyball could be a better option.
Oh, the places we must go, and the things we have to learn for our singin’, dancin’ boys. . .
We bought dance kneepads at Capezio in Times Square – I’m sure you could call and order.
@MTTwinsinCA - Any pointers on what are “desirable” qualities in knee pads - other than protecting the knees anda good fit? Do they need to be able to “slide” on stage surfaces? Or is that not an issue?
Just looked at Capezio site. Did you get the black ones? Or the gel ones? Do your boys like them? Thanks for the info.
@mom4bwayboy sorry for delay in responding!!! Just the regular black ones. The boys have gone through two pairs each in about 6 years, so they do seem to stand up to a lot of use.
