Advice on improving score

Hey Everyone!

I am currently in 11th grade and took a diagnostic ACT test and got a composite score of 29 (26,32,30,27). I am currently seeking advice on how I can improve my score. I am aiming for a 34 for the June attempt. The timing is a real issue for me.

Any tips and tricks will be much appreciated. I have previously gotten a 2150 in SAT (CR:710, M:660, W:780), if that helps.

I think that its you that should be giving me the advice. I’m taking the ACT on the nineteenth and I just want a 27…

I’m on the same boat as you I have almost a 32 but I want a 34.
Study grammar and you could get your English up super easily go quickly on this section and don’t second guess too much it’s simpler than you think sometimes, if math is your strongest keep working on it so that it can help carry the weight for your harder sections, on reading just keep practicing the time constraints which is the hardest for me, on the science section keep trying to go faster and do the 5 question passages first really quickly so you have more time for the other ones, I also do the two scientists last because it’s the one that’s the most challenging for me to understand and I won’t waste too much time on those. When you take practice tests go back and correct your mistakes so you can get more out of it.

could not agree more!

Hey guys update:

I have buckled down on my timing so that’s great news

Now I have a 35 in Math, 33 in Reading, 34 in Science and 32 in Grammar. Brings my composite score to 34.

Any tips on how to maintain this score? In the SATs I would frequently get scores of 2300+ but because of pressure I messed up. Any ideas on how I can reduce stress?

I can’t speak to improving reading score (reading was by far my worst section), but for me the key to success on the English (grammar?) section was just a lot of practice. Remember that when doing this practice it is imperative that you understand all your mistakes and come up with ways to mitigate them in the future (whether that is looking up grammar rules or re-reading sentences).
