Advice on what I should do?

Yeah, so I don't know if I should transfer or not...
Before you guys start bashing me on what mistakes I may be making, that I didn't give the school a chance, please hear me out.

For starters, I'm currently at a Tech school and think that it's just not the kind of environment I want to be in for the next 3 or 4 years of my academic life. I mean it definitely is exciting here from time to time, with lots of good people and all, but overall I believe that I can be much happier in other places that I ended up not choosing (for financial reasons). BUT that is still subject to change since I've only been here several weeks (hopefully change for the better).

Anyway, what really got me into the 'transferring' business was because I'm not happy with my major (currently BME). It's not such a big deal at the moment because all my classes are really general, so changing majors won't really make a difference at this point. But for some reason I don't think that engineering is the right major for me, or something that I would love doing as a job anyway. But that's where the problem arises. Being at a Tech school, it's not really worth staying here if I weren't to become an engineer. So since I'm not going for engineering, I asked myself, why stay here? I want the best education I can get, and if I move to the other major (right now I'm leaning towards Biology) I want a school that has a better program in that area.

What do you guys think?

Oh and because I'm thinking of transferring, I also want your feedback on what would look 'good' to me in the transcript for the schools I'm applying to...(like I was thinking of interning at a dental clinic or something along those grounds).

Thank you!

As far as giving your current school a chance, it sounds to me like you're doing that.

Wanting to go to a non-Tech school to have more options for academic growth sounds like a solid reason to transfer.

What would look good: high grades, great LORs from your profs/TAs and getting involved in ECs like the dental clinic; with emphasis on the first two (see Transfer Admissions 101 sticky thread at the top of this page).

Thanks for the reply entomom...
On the note of getting good LORs, what can I do to get myself noticed to the TA's/profs? Should I stop by their office many times to ask questions and whatnot?

Participate in class discussions and yes, make use of office hours. It may be too late for this semester, but taking smaller classes where you can be noticed can be helpful too.
