So I messed up big time in high school and, as a result, I’m making up for it now. I’m planning on moving to GA this coming spring and going to school the following year, when I gain residency, at the local tech college. But since I am going for a competitive education, and going for undergrad studies 6-7yrs post high school, I understand my chances are lower than a graduating senior so I need advice on what to do and if my current plan is enough to get me by:
My current plan was to move and wait until I gain residency before enrolling to the local tech college. At least get my generals done, maintaining a 3.4 GPA at the least (I am aiming for a 3.8 though) to pass UGAs minimum requirements. While doing so, keep myself busy and volunteer/work at places that go with my degree: Animal hospitals, shelters, pet stores (sorta), and boarding facilities. Also a senior community and that’s purely for personal satisfaction, out of genuine enjoyment. I want to retake my ACT (first time was a 24 with minor studying) and take the SAT for the first time, shooting for higher scores since that’s what seems to help people get in. And finally, willingly take a few math and science courses as my understanding of the material is very low and almost embarrassing, I NEED to take the classes and actually learn the stuff.
So that’s my plan and I’ll be starting when I’m 22. I get I might not get into a great school like so, but I feel if I work hard enough I’ll at least qualify for another good school. I highly want UGA, however, as it’s a great veterinary school in a place that has everything I want so far and is affordable to live near. But is my current plan enough and what can I do to make it better?
