<p>I am going to major in Sociology/Political Science/ Urban Studies (depending where I attend) on a pre-law track with a minor in Social Justice/Peace Studies/civic engagement/ non-profit management or public relations/communications. (also depending on where I attend).</p>

Duquesne
Marquette
Xavier (Cincinnati)
St. Louis University </p>
<p>Can anyone offer info on these schools? As of now I would most likely attend Duquesne because they offered me $15,000 a year. I would do their 5 year B.A in Sociology, M.A. in Social and Public Policy program. But I would like to hear what people have to say. </p>
<p>I am considering other schools too, but they are my reach schools, so if I get in, I would try to go there. (BU and Northwestern)</p>
<p>I don’t know anything about your major specifically; however, my daughter is a freshman at Duquesne and I can give you a bit of feedback on her experience so far. She likes it overall. Her professors are uniformly approachable and responsive - very willing to help students. There are many robust social, professional and service groups that most students participate in. The campus feels small and friendly, but it has the advantage of being in a city (you can literally walk 5 or 10 minutes to the Consol Energy Center (concerts, ice hockey, etc) or into downtown. Still, the campus and city don’t really “mix”. On the down side, she found quite a few very childish freshmen who apparently didn’t know how to handle their new found independence and spend every weekend drinking and partying way too much. Overall, though, she likes it there. </p>
<p>I think you should examine how good colleges are for your intended major. Then, assume that you might change your mind and see if you would be able to get a good education in other areas. I know Duquesne has a good law school that is respected regionally (at least), but I dont’ know about sociology or public policy.</p>
