Advice Please!

What do you guys think about taking online college courses? I've been thinking of doing that. Considering the school is about 2 hours away, plus I don't have a car. The only issue is the money. It's about $45k for an Associates Degree in Network Systems Administration. So is it all worth it, you think? Anything would help, thanks! Also, the college is DeVry.

It seems very expensive for an associate’s degree. Personally, I think you would be better off enrolling at a community college. Most community colleges would cost much less than that for an associate’s degree even if you lived on campus. Many community colleges ( and 4 year state Us) also have some of their classes available online, so you could probably get quite a bit done online.

Plus how are you planning to come up with the $45k?

Everyone says that a Community College is far cheaper, and I agree. The thing is, i don’t want to take general education. DeVry focuses on the career itself. I also heard but im not 100% sure that it only takes 3 years for a BS. I guess it’s like a technical school

And if I do decide to enroll into the online course, my dad would be paying for the mean time. That is until I get a part time job and help my dad. Also financial aid help.

I would be very careful about for profit schools such as Devry. If you have any “brick and mortar” options, I’d choose them instead.

It would be way cheaper to buy a used car and commute to community college for an associates degree. You do the associates with a plan in mind to possibly transfer to a 4 yr school. Not sure DeVry’s credits would transfer…
