Advice, please.

If you have to do it that way, then you should visit Exeter and Andover on the same day. I think they are about an hour apart (maybe a little more). The second day you could do St. Paul's and Deerfield, but plan your day well because they are about 2 1/4 hours apart.

Okay. Thanks. :)

You really won't get a feel for the schools visiting in summer. The summer school people are a whole different crowd and I don't think Deerfield and SPS even have summer school. Also, the interview is really important, doing one on campus is important. You can do those 4 schoold in 2 days, buit the way to do it is Andover/Deerfield, SPS/Exeter. It sound loike you're boarderline for aid but really need it, don't underestimate the importance of showing serious interest on the part of your whole family by taking a good look during the school year. It's also really important for you to see the real thing, you're talking about 4 years and these schools are really different. I thought I wanted Exeter based on the brochure and web site and I ended up npt even applying!!

For some reason, Exeter isn't appealing to me at all. I don't know why, though. It just isn't.

Also, is it okay if just me and my mom go to the schools for the interview and tour? Or does my dad have to come to?

It's completely fine if only one parent comes with you. That's what I did.

I would reccommend that both parents go. With me, I went with my mom and dad. We were in Boston, and she got called into New York, so she left early to work. So it ended up with only my dad. However, the next weekend, my mom went by herself for a tour. If both parents want to see it, but only one has time, the other one can visit when they feel it's convenient. That worked for my family, but hey, everyone's different.

Only my dad came with me. I think the majority of applicants just have one parent come with them.

I agree with suze's comment about not going during the summer. You need to see and be around the students to be able to feel the atmosphere of the school. For instance, I liked Andover more before I visited, and then afterwards I decided that Exeter was my favorite.

So, it does seem like you're "border-line for aid". I think its really hard to get a lot of financial aid unless you have really high test scores etc. so if i was you, i would stop worrying about everything for the time being and just study for the ssat like mad

I'm not applying for aid. My dad said he'd pay for it.
