advice please!!

i have a question, for anyone who can answer it - i was accepted into school of arts and sciences for physics, but i really miss my art classes and kind of want to minor in physics and major in architecture does anyone know if this is possible? can i take arch courses in my first semester??

thank you!!

Physics and Architecture?? That is a very strange combination. Most architecture majors dislike math and want to take as little physics as possible. They even have a super-dumbed down physics course for Arch majors called "Physical principals of Design".

It seems to be possible, if you are willing to take extra courses (more than 4) per semester. You would be taking primarily Arch courses, and physics courses on the side. According to the course catalog, a minor in physics requires 16 credit hours of physics at the 2000 level or higher. Additionally, to the 2000 level you will also have to take Physics I and II and Calculus II; these courses are apparently not normally part of the Arch. curriculum.

So, theoretically you could do it, but I'm not sure if you would want to. It is much easier to get a minor in physics as someone in the school of science or engineering, where you will already take Physics I,II and Calc II as part of your normal curriculum.

Also, check out the course catalog for more info.

Thanks so much for the advice!!

I would definitely be considered still an undecided major just because I am interested in so many things. I guess I'm trying to narrow down my interests but I still enjoy math/physics and art equally and I'm not sure which route to go. I think what I will try doing is take math and physics my first semester as well as an art course and arch course if I'm allowed. Hopefully then I can choose where to go!!!

: )

Cool, Yeah, you should be able to take both.. there is quite a bit of flexibility, especially in the first year.
