Hi everyone,
I posted this once before perhaps a month ago and got no response, so I'll try it again. I attended Oakland University (a regional 4-year in Michigan) for 3 semesters and Parsons the New School for Design (where they shot Project Runway) for 2 prior to my transfer to Eastern Michigan University (small state university).

I came here primarily because their linguistics dept. was recommended to me, and because I did not want to complete my degree at OU (it's literally 2 minutes from where I grew up). I didn't have the grades at the time of my transfer for U-M, but I got into both MSU and EMU. The prospect of living in East Lansing was not appealing, however, and I liked EMU's proximity to Ann Arbor.

I came in the spring of this year, and it didn't take long for me realize just how weak the linguistics department is here. My 400-level Intro to Linguistic Science class is fluff in comparison the 200-level prerequisite I took at OU. I've just joined the Honors College, but won't begin until next semester. Although all but two of my General Education requirements are done, I currently have sophomore standing. Any further transfers would likely result in even more loss of credit hours, and EMU is offering me quality scholarships. It's out of the question for me to attempt to transfer again.

What can I do to make my experience here as fruitful as possible? I'll be eligible to take graduate level courses and apply for Honors Undergraduate Fellowships when I've got junior standing. Will undergraduate research and graduate-level study, in addition of course to things like LORs and GRE scores, be enough to save me?

I feel I've shot myself in the foot as far as getting into any decent graduate program goes. Help.
