Im from california... want to go to a UC but am currently going to the university of washington. i recieved a cum. 3.2 gpa my first year which isnt very impressive. Im thinking of majoring in economics/business and wondering what UC's would be a realistic option to transfer to, i was also wondering if UC's look at grades beyond freshman year in college, ie fall quarter of my sophomore year? anyways any help would be great

Why do you want to transfer of of UW?

Improve your GPA as much as you can, and make sure you finish ALL of the prereqs for the major you want to get into. You can find the list of pre-reqs for your desired major on the school's website. There is great emphasis on GPA and completion of pre-reqs for your major in the UC admission process. Other than that, make your essays very unique and meaningful, demonstrate your interest in the major, and how that school can better help you reach your goals than your current institution.

Yes they do look at your sophomore-fall grades. Just do your best bro.. aim for 4.0.

Which UC are planning to apply to btw?

3.2 isn't that bad...only about 10% at the kids at any given school get above a 3.7 (at my school anyways)...so i wouldn't worry about it too much. (I got in to UVA out of state with a 1st semester GPA of 3.15...)

i was thinking of applying to ucsb, i know berkeley and ucla are out of reach
