AEM Undergrad Business

Hey guys

I was wondering if anyone knew how to apply to the AEM program. I know that you have to apply to the Agricultural and Life Sciences School. Once you get in to that school, do you just join the AEM program? Or do I specifically apply to the AEM program, and then only if I gain admisison into that program will I be able to go? In the CommonApp, it asks me what school I want to apply to in Cornell, and I selected Agricultrual and Life Sciences. In the next menu, It asks me my intended degree and I chose AEM. To make it easier for me to get in, should I choose some other degree instead of AEM, and then just join AEM when I am accepted? Or is it that I have to apply to AEM straight shoot?

You need to apply directly to the AEM program in CALS. If you really want to be in an undergraduate business program I suggest directly applying to it, because it is getting harder and harder to transfer into from other majors and schools at Cornell. However, if you are only interested in attending Cornell look at other majors in the University. I personally did not have good SATS, GPA, etc. but was able to give a good reason why I should be admitted to the AEM program, which is why I got in.
The application should give you a choice for a second major as well, which the admissions officers will consider you for.

"the application should give you a choice for a second major as well..."

can that be a second major in a different school or do both major choices HAVE to be from the same school?

I don't believe it is a second major, but rather a second college.

apply directly to AEM - it's a lot harder to transfer in - i believe in order to internally transfer into AEM, you need to take at least 2 AEM classes and get at least a B in both of them, but since it's so competitive (there are only 95 spots for incoming freshmen and probably 20 spots or so for transfers), you actually need at least a 3.6+ (in all of your classes, not just the required AEM classes) to ensure that you'll get in.

for those of you who dont think you'd get into aem...you can still do a business minor (made up of mostly aem classes) if you get into CALS...

a general business major isnt so competitive these days...even if it is at Cornell or Penn...you need to find ways to distinguish yourself...
