<p>Currently these two types of engineering are the top two that I'm interested in majoring in. I used to be sold on Aero, but not anymore. Now it's about 50/50. Can anybody from either major give me a little insight on one or the other (course work, career options, personal experience with it, etc)</p>

If you are interested in working for NASA as an Aerospace engineer it will be very difficult for in the next decade. This is because the government has slashed funding for NASA by a huge margin. You will likely be working for a military contractor or an airline company like virgin or Boeing.</p>
<p>Aerospace engineering has a lot of theoretical stuff in it the curriculum and is very heavy in physics/mathematics compared to Environmental which is more chemistry related.

<p>NASA’s budget actually grew by about $1 billion per Obama’s plan. It just cut the Constellation program and reallocated the money.</p>

<p>Not true about working for NASA - the amount of NASA jobs is staying the same. It’s the contractors that are losing jobs.</p>
<p>NASA is just a small portion of the aerospace field though.</p>

<p>That is also not true. Any jobs lost right now are going to be small in number and related to the constellation program (not accounting of the economy, which is affecting all areas relatively equally). That is an incredibly small percentage of jobs at the contractors. In fact, part of the new “plan” for spaceflight is to outsource the design and construction of the spacecraft to contractors, so contrary to what you claim, the space sections of Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop, Space X and the gang are all set to grow in coming years.</p>
