Aerospace Engineering College Help!

Hi,
I really need help deciding what colleges I should apply to. I am a male Asian, living in NJ and will be applying as an international student unless I get a green card before I finish applying. I believe myself to be very good in math and science and thus want to pursue engineering, Aerospace specifically. I am currently a HS senior and place in the top 33% but hopefully if things go well my first senior semester, I will be in the top 25%. Here are my standardized test results.
SAT
English: 580
Math: 640
Reading: 510
so a combined score of 1730

ACT
English: 22
Math: 31
Reading: 26
Science: 28
Combined English/Writing: 28
Essay: 11
so a composite score of 27

SAT Subject tests:
Chemistry: 700
Math II: 650

HS classes:
Junior Year;
-Honors Pre-calculus
-Honors Physics
-Honors Global Perspectives(only history class available at our HS)
-AP Chemistry (I got a 4 on the test)
Senior Year;
-AP Physics B
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Statistics
-AP Economics
Academic GPA: 3.6
So course load wise, I took a good step in making my work load pretty heavy

Family Income= 130k (2 working parents and a sibling as a freshman in college)

I plan on taking the SATs again and hopefully having my desired results of +50 to +100 in each area. I have many extracurricular and clubs that I am involved in such as Math and Science leagues, Amnesty International, Students Concerned for the Needy, etc. I also have many many volunteer hours and an award for volunteering as well. I am in the schools jazz band and I will have by the end of my senior year 9 varsity awards. I worked for a summer camp for one summer and was in a Engineering program at NYU Poly for another. My teacher recommendations are going to be from my account very good and very much in my favor. Here are a bunch of schools that I have on my list but comparing my scores to their accepted scores, I don't think they will be there for long.

Boston University
Northeastern University
Penn State University Park
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rutgers NB
University of Delaware
University of Maryland: College Park
University of Michigan
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
University of Massachusetts, Amherst

I know that some of them are very high-end and really good schools for engineering but that is why I need help. I would appreciate any help in finding new and choosing colleges. I do want to become an Aerospace Engineer, so the college that I will be applying to must have it as a Major. If possible I would like to see my High's, Middle, and Certain Admission colleges. And preferably, I would like the college that I go to to be on the East Cost.

A true career in aerospace will require an advanced degree. If you’re not sure you want to take your studies that far, you should consider and undergraduate degree in MechE, and broaden your college search accordingly.

I do want to pursue a “true” career in Aerospace and thus, still do want an advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering. Potentially even working for NASA.

Good for you. But please realize, even in aerospace companies, MechEs outnumber AeroEs at least 10-to-1. If you get an undergrad degree in MechE and include Aero as your electives, you will not impede your path to Aero grad school in the slightest. And you will have more options if you decide to go right to work right after undergrad…even in an aerospace company.

okay, i do understand what you are saying; becoming an Mechanical Engineer does not hinder my chances of becoming an Aerospace Engineer, if anything, it helps me by giving me more options for colleges. But now I am left with the question, should I right now pursue Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering?

I would suggest MechE with Aero electives…more options to you after undergrad and it will open up your list of undergrad schools since there are a lot more MechE programs around. But only you can really make this call. Just wanted you to be informed.

thank you for your help this far. I do appreciate it. If now I wanted to pursue either Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, what colleges should I be looking at now, keeping in mind my scores and my background.

Embry-Riddle

ERAU would be a great choice for aeronautical science…pilot training and aircraft support services, for example. Not so much so for aerospace engineering where the OP is expressing an interest in grad school. OP…what are your in-state public options?

How much will your parents pay each year?

Unless your parents will pay for all college costs, most of these schools will not be affordable. These OOS publics don’t give aid to non-residents.

for instate school I just think Rutgers so far
as for who will pay each year, it will most likely be my parents, unless of course I get a green card and get a student loan and that would solve the money problem

could anyone else help out with my college search? Once again, i would like something on the East Coast, closer to perhaps NJ with Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering majors.
