Hello guys!
I am an international high school senior and live in NC. I got into Stony Brook University, North Carolina State University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Indiana University, and University of Minnesota(wait listed) so far. I want to major in astrophysics, but the thing is, I know it’ll be really hard for me to find a job in the future. Should I first major in aerospace engineering, then change my major to astrophysics if I go to grad school in the future? Also, I really want to go to Stony Brook University, because they are really good at physics, but NCSU is closer to me and cheaper. Also, NCSU is really good at engineering.
So what should I do?
Major in aerospace engineering first, then astrophysics
Or just major in astrophysics?
The reason why I want to major in aerospace engineering is because engineers can actually find jobs a lot easier. Also, a friend of mine told me that if I major in astrophysics, I might end up working as an engineer, or a computer scientist and etc. Everyone around me wants me to change my major, because they think I won’t be able to find a job or be successful at physics.
What do y’all think?
Thanks!!!
