So I just put down my deposit and I'm a Jacket now. However, I just learned that Aerospace Engineering (the major I'm doing) is really really hard and not a lot of students get high GPAs. Is this true? Is AE especially hard, or is it just all engineering at Tech in general really hard? Am I going to die?

Perhaps you are truly overwhelmed . Perhaps you are overly dramatic .Not sure . Talk to your adviser .

No one succeeds without failing just as much (certainly not at grade-inflating Stanford lol). From what I’ve heard, aerospace can be pretty frustrating but it’s all about how much determination and work you put in. Don’t let the intro/prereq profs suck all your enthusiasm dry either. If you feel it’s too hard, feel free to change majors. Some people (aka me) work better with E/CE because it’s mostly discrete math. Some love bothering with fluid dynamics but can’t wrap their heads around logic gates. And some want a semi-normal life and transfer to CoC or CoM.

Your choice of major should be based on what you’re interested in, not what’s rumored to be hard or easy. Most engineering majors at Tech are very difficult, but as long as you like your major, you should be able to handle it.
