Aerospace Engineering

I’ve heard that the aerospace is the hardest major at the Academy. Does anyone know just how hard it was or know someone that majored in aerospace? I plan on majoring in aerospace and possibly becoming a pilot. Would this be possible or would I be overwhelmed with work from aerospace?

It depends on your skill and work ethic. It is a very demanding major, but not undoable. If you are techie by nature it could be very good for you. If you are doing it just to get a pilot slot, DON"T. Your major does not effect your chances. You GPA has more to do with your pilot chances, so do something you want to do. If that something is aero, that's great.

***technically the academy doesn't have aerospace. We have aeronautical and astronautical degrees.

From all the talk I hear, aero, astro and chem are the hardest majors at USAFA.

From what I hear its better to do something you like than stay away from a particular major because it may be too hard. Most of us came here for a bit of a challenge, right? Don't back down on what you want to major in because you are afraid it'll be too hard, you might end up having an easy time and wondering forever if you could have handled aero.

(I'm an aero major and the math is killer so far but not impossible...)
