Aerospase undergraduate edu.!!

Hi all. I was born in Russia. I've been living in New Zealand for 3 years now. At the moment i am studying math, physics and preparing for SAT exams. I am very passionate about aerospace engineering and would like to hear some suggestions about where i should study(what uni?????).
From my point of view i better take my undergrad. course in the US to learn the US school of engineering and hopefully get some real life work experience at US firms. Then i could easily move back to Russia and learn our way of designing and solving problems. That would give me a good advantage and experience.
Now. At the moment i am financially dependent on my parents and the living/tutorial/etc costs are quite a concern. I noticed nearly every uni has "estimated" costs for bal bla bla on their websites, but i need the real numbers???? that are being used by You-students.
Thank you, bro's

This is the ranking at the US News website on Aerospace Engineering:

1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2 Georgia Institute of Technology
3 University of Michigan–Ann Arbor
4 Purdue University–West Lafayette
West Lafayette, IN
5 California Institute of Technology
6 University of Maryland–College Park
7 University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign
8 Stanford University
9 University of Texas–Austin
10 Virginia Tech

I’d say that, besides Stanford, Michigan, and MIT, they are all quite affordable universities. And if you are a competent applicant, MIT can offer you big aid.

I’m no expert but, knowing Russia’s reputation, wouldn’t studying there be better? I’m not sure. What I can be sure of is that getting a job in the USA is very hard as of now, due to the economy and such matters.

thanks for your reply

well, i discussed this option with russian engeneers in aerosapce industry(via forum). what they basicaly say is that US education in aerospace istnt better its just that it gives more opportunities for my future career + having some experience in us or european firms like Lockheed, boeing, airbus would be helpfull. The other problem is russian arospace indistries are at quite a **** (becouse of the collapse of the USSR) and it is going to take a while before they get better, if they ever do))))

Thats why i decided to syudy in US.
but if it doesnt work out, ill be more than happy to go back to russia

Fair enough, that makes sense.

Good luck in your plans for future.
I’m sure that if you post in the Engineering Majors section of the forum you’ll get more information.
