Unless you’re GPA is really good around 4.2. You may want to make ur ACT amazing like a 35, because a re review isn’t very successful with only an improved GPA. I know your ACT shouldve already got u a full tuition scholarship, but nothing we can do
@hypebeast2
Would I have a good shot at re-review? I have a 1470 and even an achievement would be fine.
Or should I just leave it and commit to the school I was gonna attend if I didn’t get AES?
Wait a atlst a week I have friends who from last yr who got it almost a week after others. They go thru ppl who applied before first. You applied right b4 the December awarding deadline so it might take some time.
Another thing, if you can’t make an A in a class, don’t take it bc a B or a C doesn’t look good from UTD aes perspective. A high C and a mid B probably cost me the 2nd tier scholarship.
Does anyone know how UTD looks at rank for AES? Do they look at the the actual rank or % based on class size?
% based on class size. actual rank is fairly meaningless. there are so many little schools throughout texas (and elsewhere) that have graduating classes of less than 50.
and to those who are whining that a C cost them a higher level scholarship, that’s probably only part of the issue. so far we have 2 people who claim this. one wouldn’t give his unweighted gpa (his weighted gpa is 3.86, which is probably not that great). the other sits at 15%. that’s also not that great, especially given how competitive aes has gotten.
Wasn’t whining about it . The C was the major reason. The lady I talked to said that they want to see students doing well in their classes. If I had taken an easier version if physics and done better. I may have very well gotten full tuition.
Lastly, this forum was created to give advice, not for “getting over it”. If you can’t think of anything helpful, what exactly are you accomplishing. No one forced you to read this forum.
Likewise no one forced you to read my posts. Heh. And no, of course, you didn’t whine. You only bemoaned the following in this thread:

Maybe I didn’t get bc of a C in honors physics bc my teacher sucked. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get second tier scholarship
I honestly don’t understand how a 1500 doesn’t compensate for a single C
Please ask them what we can do to make up for a C. I’m going to retake the SAT, probably. With God’s help, I’m hoping to make around a 1550 . Hoping that’s enough to balance out the C
My C was because our teacher wasn’t very good.
without my C would’ve gotten me full tuition and 3k per semester,
A high C and a mid B probably cost me the 2nd tier scholarship

@hypebeast2 - as I posted earlier It may not be just a C in one class, they look at class rank (preferably top 10%) course rigor compared to your classmates etc.
@getoveritnow
Wow, i never realized how I sounded. I honestly thank you for pointing that out.
@artificialaddy if your new grades are really good, send them as soon as your transcript is available. Also, have a GC send a letter about illnesses and also mention new honors/awards. Good luck.
