Affirmative Action at Harvard (You Wouldn't Expect This)

<p>On the whole, I guess that’s true. As someone who rarely leaves the Seattle area, I guess I never thought of it that way.</p>

<p>While 20% of Harvard students come from Pacific states, there are an overabundance of excellent applicants from California while it’s far harder for Harvard to attract applicants from Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Consequently being from those latter 3 states is a plus for admissions.</p>
