It’s all about Godiva . . .

^^^ Don’t put words in my mouth you slimy twat. Did i ever say that? No, you inferred it you dilapidated piece of ****. I meant, that Asians already make a huge % of top 20 college admits, so why is he complaining? More than enough Asians get in.

Ghiradelli’s has REALLY good sundaes. They use their special dark chocolate fudge sauce. Mmmm. Probs like 1200 calories in one though.

Don’t get me wrong - I get that AA is not going away and have moved on. I never really cared that much - and NO I’m not a URM.

That being said, Daxlo5, your argument is contradictory. You should realize that being biased against ORMs/Whites is just as bad as being biased towards URMs.

@OP, sorry, get over your hatred towards AA. Focus on making your application better instead of conjecturing about others’ applications.

It’s all stupid.
Do we all agree? Okay then.ORM, URM it’s all based on race. We all hate it, We all dislike it. Asians hate it, Black people hate it, Whites hate it. So, we agree. Can we end this now?

I agree that race-based AA is ridiculous. I understand when a poor minority is given a boost up by AA, but last week, a female black student was accepted to Cornell with a 3.5 GPA, ONE AP class over four years, and mid-1800 SATS (These stats are accurate, she posted them on her facebook during a heated debate with a few other students about whether or not she deserved to get in). She is not even close to poor, as both of her parents are doctors (Not Cornell alums, however). Two of my white female classmates were rejected from Cornell, however, even though one has taken all AP and Honors courses since frosh year, had a 4.0, and a 2240 on her SATS (I don’t know the other girl’s stats, but she is a very similar student). The two white girls are absolutely crushed that they didn’t get into their dream school, and it was salt in the wound when the black student with lower grades was accepted.

You’re coming off as really pathetic.
First, who are you to know that being a URM hasn’t been a factor in a minority student’s B in English, or F on a math test. Don’t make assumptions. I for one am hispanic and while I could say that my family HAS STRUGGLED financially, emotionally, whatever because of factors derivative of us being minorities, I have stilll done exceptionally well at school, and made , and the added boost is something I don’t NEED but I know that other URMs in my school that do well could use. Especially since the MAJORITY of them haven’t had the easiest home lives.
Second, most of my friends are white kids, rich white kids. I’m VERY used to hearing racial jokes. I even hear people being put down because their english isn’t the best, or the only black person in an honors class being the subject of ridicule daily. and while it doesn’t really happen to me since I’ve been in the United States all my life, english is my first language, and I don’t even speak spanish too well, it happens to others VERY OFTEN. Even if they don’t hear it, it’s still very unnecessary.
And, even if I haven’t suffered, haven’t been teased or whatever, my parents have gone through enough pain. I think Affirmative action is still in place because, it gives us a greater opportunity to achieve what our parents couldn’t. I know that’s part of why I do so well in school.
Third, I’ma go back to how you made a thread to complain about others because you weren’t good enough. I’m sorry. Maybe you should study just a bit more. Obviously, if you or your friends aren’t good enough to be accepted into your college of choice, that’s your problem. Go look at the college’s demographics; I promise you they’ll be filled with around 65% white, 20% asian, 10% black, and 5% hispanic. So, if 65% of a college is white, then obviously there’s a correlation there that you just aren’t getting. Again, maybe you should study a bit more.

Unqualified? Lol, because high school juniors are ~so~ fit to determine who the “qualified” applicants are. Get over yourself and pull that stick out of your ignorant ass plzkthx.

What people fail to realize is that colleges can’t accept everyone who applies. Many “qualified” students will be rejected and many “unqualified” students will be accepted. MOVE ON. Colleges are looking to build a diverse class, and they can do this however they want. Don’t approve? Save your money and don’t apply.

OP disgusts me.

EDIT: “the only black person in an honors class being the subject of ridicule daily” < - Story of my life, sort of.
I’m black, pacific islander, and hispanic. Being mixed sucks lol.

^^Dude, I know what you mean. Being laughed at for being the only black kid in a class has happened to me time after time. A teacher once made me stay after class so that she could talk to me about some black person she met. I was late for my next class, got in trouble for it and because stuff that pointed me out as the black girl happened a lot, I was made fun of. I left that school, it was the best choice of my life.

and that 10% black thing made me laugh. Some schools are so much more less. I do not want to be the only choco chip cookie in a sea of white milk lolz

race strongly correlates with socioeconomic class. Don’t even try to deny it.

@quomodo I would kill for a sundae right about now, mmm.

What about chocolate toblerones

not to brag…but I have 14 lindt 90% dark chocolate bars IN MY ROOM right now with me. They give me company, and compliments, and are courteous and concise - practically everything I could ever ask for in a friend.

Kironide, please inform us what your definition of “qualified” is.

You obviously mean to brag… I had some Cadbury Eggs, but they mysteriously vanished. No idea where they went. Nope, those aren’t wrappers over there, not at all.

I’ll organize a search party later. I have a feeling like they fled back to the store and are hiding there. I’ll have to go retrieve them.

HAHA, Kironide is still posting on HSL.

[sarcasm]Excellent thread bro. +1[/sarcasm]

Yes; they’re qualified, but that’s not the question. The question is whether or not they’d be just as qualified as the people who would take their spot if affirmative action isn’t used. In most cases, those who would be admitted in their stead are more qualified.

AA is disgusting to me as well, but ranting about it on CC doesn’t really do anything since there’s already countless threads on it. Just use the main threads in the Admissions subforum to express your opinion.

People who are disgusted by affirmative action disgust me. So there.

Ignorance, bitterness and entitlement are ugly, ugly things.

@fisimlab, you mad bro?

I’ll just enjoy me some AA while you complain.

The OP disgusts me.
