Affirmative action disgusts me.

It is sickening to see my friends rejected or waitlisted from prestigious colleges while unqualified URMs are accepted on the basis of their race. Affirmative action is just as discriminatory or racist as segregation--you are judging someone by the color of their skin and not by the quality of their character. I cannot see how anyone can rationally support race-based affirmative action that presumes poor socioeconomic status on account of being born a particular way.

That is all.

“I cannot see how anyone can rationally support race-based affirmative action that presumes poor socioeconomic status on account of being born a particular way”
^This I agree with.

do you think anyone likes this???
I get yelled at by people saying one day i’ll steal their jobs, take their homes, their carse etc etc (it all makes no sense).

I am Black, I do not like this. I want to be picked based on what I have done, not the color of my skin.

But you need to understand some of these people who have AA do come from poor places (not all, but some) this helps them a lot.

People need to stop ranting about this. I bet you just saw the other thread and wanted to get some attention.

I did a tally once; there are literally thousands of CC threads about Affirmative Action.

I love Ron Artest, he’s like a cute feisty teddy bear

Here’s Affirmative Action thread #1,670,000. Do we need anymore?

Why can’t we just have one big Affirmative Action **** thread in which everybody can flame each other as they wish?

I believe it’s called “Race in College Admissions.”

We’ve definitely been over this a bunch of times.

Socioeconomic AA>Skin color AA

I like chocolate. . . :)

^Dark > milk

oh shut up already . like this post is gonna change anything .
you’re just ignorant. im African and Im not saying its right to pick based on race but its not a MAJOR factor . they wont pick an AA with 1200 SAT and 2.6 gpa and no ECs over a person with 2340 and 4.0 gpa all because of race.

come on now… get a life.

This thread is fail.

Kiro, you’re dumb as ****. Don’t blame black kids for you not getting into Stanford. Your race is already over-represented. I’ll spar with you bro, but provide me some examples of these so-called “idiot URMS” getting into a top-20 school.

^AGREED . 10char

Trust me, AA is not a major factor like the OP thinks.

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G using CC App

Get over it. Although AA isn’t exactly fair, don’t blame your rejections on it. All of the URMs that are accepted are just as qualified as everyone else.

@smorgasbord I know, dark chocolate with almonds is the best.

@toxic93: Or Cadbury chocolate with fruits and nuts…yummy!

I hope you die in a chemical fire. “”

Already overrepresented? So it’s fair to turn down students that make up a race just because they have a lot of them already? Great logic, bro. That definitely reflects equality within the races.

I think what he meant was that there are other factors that make up an application other than the little race box.

@smorgasbord : YESS YES YES YESSS !!! i can never find cadbury chocolate anymore !! its saddening . but yesss that is the best kind of chocolate EVER … but ghiardelli’s is close.
