Affirmative action for female applicants at MIT?

i dont kno if theres affirmative action or not for women @ MIT, but im SURE they're super-qualified. for proof, just look at the official decision roster and see the stats and qualifications of the girls that were rejected..some of them perfect scores and grades and everything else. so i dont see how its "easy" by ANY means to get into MIT for a girl, and i kno a guy from my skool who got accepted w/ lower statistics and merit than those girls who got rejected. so u can be sure they're qualified....i too, however, am sick of ppl always pointing out "women in science/engineering" instead of letting the woman deserve the credit for pure merit and accomplishment, not her gender. but w/e, this topic has been beaten to death

"It practically instills fear in girls because it just makes it seem even more challenging- like only the REALLY smart girls can be engineers."

This is so true. I knew I was definitely qualified to apply to MIT but was still hesitant because only the REALLY smart girls go there. Meanwhile, plenty of less qualified guys in my class didn't even think twice about applying.
