Affording Fordham...??

So I have been accepted to Fordham and it is my first choice. I got my estimated financial package and received a mediocre package... one that would make my cost of attendance almost $50k a year. Unfortunately my family falls into that bad spot of not qualifying for much aid but still not able to afford tuition.

So what I am wondering is how do people afford the tuition? I know I may sound nieve but I really don't understand. Is everyone who goes there simply rich? Should I ask for more aid?

Any advice would be great...

Money is always a factor. IF you got mediocre aid, there is a reason. Perhaps value of family home. I dunno.

I would not take on huge student loans, certainly not 50 k a year. When people get gapped, they take loans.

Compare your offers, weigh all the factors including money and make a decision. Be patient.

And ask Fordham to review your package again.
