<p>I'm a rising senior and an african American male and Florida State is my dream school however my GPA and SAT scores aren't exactly all that great. GPA 3.1 SAT 1580. I have dealt with a few hardships however as my parents have been going through a rough divorce through my high school years as well as the fact that my mother had a stroke when I was in the 8th grade and ever since then I've really had to take on many extra responsibilities and help her with many things she can no longer. My extra curriculars are: 3 years varsity lacrosse and FBLA (future business leaders of America). I really am stressed and just wanna know if I have any chances of getting in?</p>
<p>You’ve done well to maintain a decent GPA. You can use SAT Official Guide to practice over the summer. Retake in the Oct. Don’t stress, you have to focus like a laser on improving your application. </p>
<p>Already you have a shot at those schools but you can improve your odds with better SAT scores. Good Luck!</p>
