After Admitted to TAMU Class of 2026... Whoop!

Yesterday afternoon

@Laneyo4 that’s fantastic, congrats!
Full admission or Blinn TEAM? And what were your stats?
If you plan to live in a dorm, stop and pay Housing deposit RIGHT NOW (not kidding).

We are OOS and our DS will need to travel from the College Station airport to campus. What is the best way to get back and forth? Uber?

Full Admission, 1st quarter, test optional, varsity soccer/ varsity cheer, NHS member, 150 community service hours throughout high school, media representative for school clubs, and early graduate

Uber or friends, Easterwood Airport is literally minutes from campus and dorms. There may even be a bus that goes to the airport? But for sure Uber or friends. My daughter uses Uber OFTEN; has never had a problem.
Ground Shuttle is a company that offers a luxury bus from Easterwood to both Houston airports. Very limited flights in & out of CS, so your best bet will probably be flying in/out of HOU, IAH or Austin. Ground Shuttle books up MONTHS in advance.

That’s amazing. Had she had any movement before then? Like choose between waitlist and team?

She hadn’t been offered anything since she applied this was the first time she heard back. She was accepted into 12 other universities and had been waiting to hear back from TAMU. She submitted application October 25, 2021.

The airport, as already said, is right by campus. Uber for sure or friends
it’s not out of the way at all.

IAH in Houston is the next closest airport. Ground shuttle is fantastic. Used to be $35 one way, I think they have gone up, could be $50 now. They can pick up from the dorm OR she can get a ride to their place on the south side of town.

That’s truly remarkable to get full admit this late in the game without being on the considered list. So happy for y’all. Congrats.

And get going on paying that housing deposit if she’s living on campus.

Also, campus bus 07 goes to Easterwood Airport. See route on map and schedule here.

Various shuttle and rideshare options listed here.

We were also told that freshman without a car can survive, as school bus can take you to nearby grocery store for free even at night. That is very nice services. Based on a link from prior post, I found TAMU transit FAQs mention HEB and Target on one of off-campus routes.

My Aggie didn’t have a car freshman year, lived on campus, never complained. TAMU bus can take you to Target, H-E-B, there’s a CVS across the street from Zachry complex, H-E-B delivers for $5.00, plenty of Uber drivers (for rides and UberEats), bikes to rent, Tiff’s Treats delivers to campus, etc.
When your student does live off campus, super important to live walkable (Northgate or Historic area) or on a bus line. Deal breaker if neither of those options.

What is the operstion time of the shuttle buses ?

@Dad2013 no idea, my Aggie does it all.
They go over all of this during NSC & Howdy Week. The A&M app has the bus schedule, there’s Destination Aggieland app, and Transportation website, too.

Yes my daughter is not bringing her car. We will get reduced cost on her auto insurance and not have to pay for parking permit. Win-win!

@martinezcs she’ll be fine without a car. But do realize if she decides she wants her car 2nd semester, most likely there won’t be any available spots and she’ll be put on a WaitList. If she lives off campus as a sophomore, she’ll be at the bottom of the list, trying to get an off campus spot.
Parking is a one time fee, not per semester.
Just some food for thought, thinking for the future.

With a school the size of A&M, it’s hard to grasp how quickly things fill up, the urgency to buy/order something or sign up for things immediately.
This goes for Sports Pass, too. Students add the Sports Pass (which is for all home sports, not just football) to their virtual cart during late spring & summer; it’s added to the tuition statement and paid for in August-$325. There are always parents who think their kid won’t attend any games, so they don’t get a pass. Passes do sell out, and there’s no WaitList. Always buy a Sports Pass! :football::baseball::basketball::softball::volleyball:

Are sports passes first come first serve? A sign up window?

@Piknight not necessarily ‘first come, first served’. But there are a limited number, and if a student waits until Labor Day-ish to add a Pass, chances are high there won’t be any left.
12th Man Foundation subsidizes the student Sports Pass heavily-$325 for a years worth of all home sports. It’s a bargain! Single tickets to the SEC games can easily cost over $100
that’s IF you can even find one to buy.
Nothing beats Aggie football in Kyle Field!

Parking is a one time fee? Online it says it is annual fee.
To send her with a car it would cost us about $2000 a year between a parking permit and insurance. We’ve talked to our insurance company and if she doesn’t take her car the cost of her insurance is reduced a lot. She can ride the bus.

Yes we are getting a sports pass!
