After the fact

Hello, everyone. I'd like to thank you in advance for your counsel.

As a senior in the class of '06, I applied to UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, UCD, UCM, and UCI. However, between application and admission, my living circumstances changed drastically. When my family was evicted, I found a place to live where I might support myself, attending a High School Diploma Program. This Program did not assign grades, but was clear on the point that students received diplomas, and not GED's. In the confusion that ensued, I did not receive my admissions packets, hearing news of my acceptance through email instead. This strikes me as important because I was not able to defer enrollment, and the universities to which I have been accepted received no response from me. My life is stable now, and it is still my wish to attend one of these schools, principally UCSD, and to do so beginning in the spring semester.

My question to you is this: what steps must I take to secure enrollment beginning in the Spring, using my unanswered admission offers as a steppingstone? I can't make heads or tails of the information on the UC websites, but I have seen similar topics here. Would it be necessary to challenge admissions boards? Would doing so at one school preclude me from doing so at another?

Should these efforts fail, would it be wiser to reapply for next fall, or transfer in from a community college at a later date?

Again, I thank you for your help. I imagine these questions could be answered by counselors or parents, but I have access to neither.

i think the best way to deal with this would be to call the admissions office itself and talk to someone there, they probably would have a better idea on how they would like to deal with this
