After the interviews

The merit scholarship packets say that the interview is now the deciding factor in rewarding scholarships. How true is this? My stats, by the numbers, should not make me competitive (in my opinion) with other Trustee Scholarship finalists, so should I not get my hopes too high because if the interview is only a piece, then I think I would be crushed.

Thanks for any info from anyone!

I would think that the reason that they require interview is to see that you are a person and not just your stats and numbers. If you live close enough, I think you should definitely give it a try.

I would say that the interview is pretty much the deciding factor at this point in time-- they just have to screen applicants through interviews now. You’ll figure out your scholarship status about a month after Explore. Go to Explore, you’ve got nothing to lose!

I agree - you wouldn’t believe how many students with “lower” stats are actually more attractive than those with perfect ones. Think of it like a job interview - they wouldn’t be asking to see you if they didn’t like what they saw in your application. The interview is to get the meet the “real” person behind the numbers. Belief in self is the first step.
