Merit Scholarship Question

Does anyone know of others who were offered a merit scholarship from the school WITHOUT participating in an interview before receiving their acceptance email (w/ a scholarship offer)?

There are currently only a few scholarships that require an on campus interview: Stamp, Trustee, Mork, and Presidential (Not NMF Presidential though). Students who are invited to interview for these full and half tuition scholarships are usually notified in late January/early February and must come to USC to interview.

Those who end up becoming NMF in January/February Do Not Need to interview to qualify for the USC NMFPresidential scholarship. USC currently offers all admitted NMF students this scholarship. Getting admitted is the tricky part as some will be denied admission because of their entire application. NMF status is a small part of the overall application.

Sorry, I didn’t state the question clearly. I know that once you’re “chosen” for a scholarship in Jan./Feb., you are asked to take an interview. My question is, do you or others know of students who have received these “come onto campus we may give you a scholarship” emails if they haven’t previously participated in an interview for USC, before submitting their application/when admissions officers are reviewing apps. In other words, does participating in an interview beforehand affect your chances of getting an invitation to interview for a scholarship?

Neither of my 2 kids who were invited to interview for T/P had interviewed prior to being invited to the scholarship interview. Is this what you are asking??

I received a Trustee scholarship and did not interview beforehand. The only interview I did for USC was the scholarship interview itself. Hope that answers the question!

One has nothing to do with the other. The don’t use demonstrated interest like this as a criteria, many can’t afford to fly in for an interview before they apply or don’t want to spend the money.

Thanks everyone!
