hi,
i want to know.. if i im accepted after i got in waiting list, there is any chance i get financial aid

i have this question too do they consider you at all for scholarships if you get in off the waitlist??

For merit scholarships, if you were a finalists or semifinalists, you would have gotten into the school. Unfortunately if you were not offered an interview, it means that you won’t get a merit scholarship and are therefore like everyone else. So you won’t be considered for scholarships as 1) they already decided upon who they would give the money to and 2) they don’t know if you are going to get off the waitlist so they don’t want to risk holding a scholarship while somebody else that got in can get it.
As for financial aid, they will give you financial aid if you really show demonstrated need. HOWEVER, the financial aid package usually will be less that if you were accepted normally. This is mainly because of the college doesn’t not have much money left that they can sustainably offer, it’s a first come first serve basis essentially. Although some other reasons are possible: the college wants to ensure that there are money left over that they can carry over to the next admissions round.

all scholarships were given out during finalist weekend at the end of march.
financial aid will probably be less than what it would be if you were admitted regularly/early

i am low income with a large family. so they would basically give me financial aid all in loans?

It really depends on everything. Just wait a while longer, I’m sure that you’ll find out.

I don’t think any of us at CC can answer that question with certainty. Maybe you can call the financial aid office and ask for your case?

Not to be a downer, but if they do accept people off the waiting list, which again seems unlikely despite what articles may have said, the numbers will be minimal (say <100 people out of like x,000 on the list). I highly doubt they’ll offer any financial aid to any of those off the waiting list; people that are able to pay flat out will be the ones accepted.

^^ Agreed.
Unfortunately, WUSTL is a need aware school so they would likely choose students that will be able to afford to pay the full price or only need a little financial aid. Since we are not FA officers, we can’t tell you what kind of package you will get if you get accepted, but it most likely will be lower than what you expected.

Gunit5 what type of interview are you referring to? An alumni interview, a specific scholarship interview? Would they ever hold on to a merit scholarship if you had aced the interview and for some other reason such as waiting for non custodial parent info or for their staff to waive it in order to put the whole package together for this phantom wait listed brilliant girl or does she have to start from square 1 with what’s left at the bottom of the endowment bucket? thanx.
