Agora Info Updated?

Does EVERYONE had the withdrawal thing?

Applied EA and was told on by admissions on campus visit that application was complete. However, I never received an Agora username and password. I requested the information by e-mail this morning and received it, but when I type it in it gives message "invalid username or password." Tried several times with variety of upper and lower case although username is my last name in all caps, but to no avail. Called admissions and they said that once your application is complete Agora will no longer work. Doesn't seem to agree with other comments in this thread. Anyone else have this problem?

Wow, someone knows their computer science.

Anyway, the "Withdraw Application" link IS NEW. I think everyone has it now.
I'm pretty sure I'm in for BC - in fact, I'm hoping for Honors College - but I've had none of these ResLife links or whatever. No big deal.

mine only says
If you have not previously paid your application fee, you may pay it here now.

If you would like to withdraw your application, please submit the Withdraw Application Request.

i didn't get my agora login stuff until today when i called. at first the # they gave me didn't work, so the lady i talked to went through my security questions for me and gave me my username which was part of my last name and2 other letters.

btw, i applied EA & everything was in by Nov 1 except it says they received my teacher rec on 11/6.. does this mean ill be in the reg admissions pool instead now? blah

adv3boys, not sure why they are telling you that. My daughters app has been complete for some time but can still access her agora account. Even full time students can access it. They might mean your actual application???

@LISA22
Apparently, so if you applied ED/SCEA/Don't want to apply EA to BC anymore you can withdraw. I have it and I didn't see those links...

@ad3boys
No...try resetting the password with Student Services. It won't let you EDIT your app, but you should be able to view it & log in to Agora.

@padfoot

Yeah, it appears that everyone has the WD link. Good luck with your App :)

My daughters account now says they received her teacher recs on 12/6 even though we know they were in well before that. I wouldn't worry.

what would happen if u applied ED to another school and still applied EA to boston college, even though you're not allowed to?

-- i'm asking because my friend did this.. and i'd be ****ed as hell if he got into EA BC an i didn't.

@dfall

Your friend would be in an extremely sticky situation.

Some schools share ED lists to prevent this sort of thing from happening. If BC found out and told the ED school, both (if any) offers of admission could be rescinded.

Most schools will make a kid honor ED agreements. If your school helped your friend weasel out of an ED agreement, the school they broke contract with would be unlikely to admit any students from your school for years.

He'd get in a lot of trouble, to say the least. I'd immediately recommend that your friend withdraws his BC app, as the terms of EA at Boston College (and many other EA schools) allow other EA applications and RD apps, but no ED apps.

-- Coopjust

I'm pretty sure the school had nothing to do with it. He said that he received an e-mail from BC after he sent in his app. saying u can't apply ED to any other school if you apply EA to BC. I got the same e-mail he did.. but i'm not applying ED anywhere. He did say he never sent a response back to BC because he never thought they would find out.

Is it possible they will never find out?

My son's info on agora also stated teacher rec's received Nov. 16- I believe that is the processing date- I know for a fact his info was sent out by 10/27. I am sure they will still be considered for EA or you would have received notification otherwise.

@dfall

It's possible that they'll never find out, but most high schools won't just keep it a secret. BC sends that letter as a warning, and the ED school is going to do some snooping if he gets in but says "Oh, I'm deferring now for a year, thanks anyways!"

If he applied ED and got rejected, it's possible they'd never know...but that's ethically wrong.

Yeah, everyone got the letter. The lists weren't going around yet, some schools don't read them and some ED schools don't send them.

Other poster asking about rec process dates:
Process date was way after Nov 1 deadline -I called admissions, I'm in EA. BC is "Postmark by Nov 1"

Just a question for everyone that did get their Agora info updated: Were your names towards the beginning of the alphabet? Mine's towards the end, and I'm hoping that's the reason mine didn't get updated. I felt fairly sure I could get in until all this :(

they all changed them back to normal, i think it was just the tech team trying some stuff out

look at the high quality of all the applicants on this site who DON'T have these links (well, besides the "withdraw application" link); it would be HIGHLY unlikely that one or none of us were accepted EA.

wpolo8, the current idea on the table is that those who got links are in, and that those who didn't either didn't get in, or (more likely in the case of CCers), they hadn't uploaded every decision yet.

so pretty much everything is changed back to normal, or do people still have reslife stuff up?

I never saw those special links, but then again I only checked a few days ago and then again a few minutes ago... That's a good question, jorr08...does anyone with those links confirmed on their agora previously still have them right now?

coopjust- good point. there's also the point that a lot of people haven't checked their agora daily, or even multiple times a day, so they could have had those links but not even seen them.

I still have the links up... they've been there since Friday...
