Toward the middle of the week, my daughter checked her Agora account and discovered that a Financial Aid Award Notification box to the right of the Check Application Status box had appeared on her main menu page. The Financial Aid Award Notification option had not been available previously - only the Financial Aid Status, Check Application Status, Change Email, and Change Password options had been there before. When my D opened the Financial Aid Award Notification box, the page said:

“You currently do not have an award notification to view. Please check your financial aid application status at [site link here] to determine if any application requirements are still outstanding.”

Do you think this site update is indicative of acceptance or just a general update BC admissions did for every applicant’s status page?

I’ve got it too… It’d be great to hear from more people so that we can better figure out what this means (if anything, which I believe is unlikely).

The additional tab is there for me too. I am not appying for FA. The information provided when I enter the tab is as follows:

All Incoming Freshman who have not and will not file 2008 federal tax returns will have the opportunity to waive this requirement in May, once they have made a deposit decision. At that time, the Office of Student Services will email each financial aid applicant the Boston College Validation Form. This form is required in verifying all financial aid eligibility for the 2009-2010 academic year.
A late application reduction is applied to all 2009-2010 grant eligible applications completed after May 1, 2009. To reduce your late penalty assessment, the Office of Student Services urges you to submit all required documents as soon as possible. This affects returning undergraduates only.

I don’t have that there but then again, I didn’t apply for financial aid. I’m willing to bet it’s only up for those who applied for aid (and I bet it doesn’t necessarily mean you got in either; rather, they updated their system to add that for everyone who applied for aid). Just a guess, but I wouldn’t get nervous or excited one way or another.

I believe this is a good sign because when I got accepted EA I had a bunch of new tabs such as accepting offer of admission and sending in deposit in my agora. I got these before I got my official acceptance in december.

I got in last year and some new tabs appeared, IIRC everybody who applied got the financial aid tabs, just some got deposit and reslife tabs while others didn’t. I’m sure if you search through the archives there is a page discussing the same issue from last year.

Okay so my parents and I haven’t mailed in our tax forms yet, but according to the website…

“The 2007 tax returns are due by the priority deadline in the chart above. The 2008 tax returns should be submitted as soon as they are completed and are due no later than April 17.”

I should be okay because they aren’t due in yet. And later on, it explains…

“The conditional financial aid award letter is mailed with the admission decision. If the appropriate forms have not been received by the time offers of admission have been made, a financial aid offer will not accompany the admission decision. The conditional award will be based on the financial aid application materials on file at the time the award is prepared, and is subject to change once the 2008 tax return and other documents are received.”

so there’s a possibility that I, in addition to others who did not submit them yet, will not get the tab regardless of whether we got accepted or not. So if others are fretting, this may be good news, so hold out hope!
