It is easier to find and hold down a math or science-related job than a non-math or science related job (English, humanities) these days.

Agree / Disagree?

It is easier to find and hold down a math or science-related job than a non-math or science related job (English, humanities) these days.

Agree / Disagree?

And by non-math or science related job I mean jobs that require college degrees from fields such as English, humanities, and the like (e.g. lawyer)

lol ada. i disagree. a stem major isn’t for everyone. there’s more to life and jobs than just being an engineer or a doctor. my teacher’s friend got a degree in psychology and now works for a big advertising company (making big monaaay too). the job you have after graduating college doesn’t always have to focus on your degree/major ~~

everyone has different strengths… a math genius probably likes math because there are formulas and remembers the correct steps that it takes to solve a problem but when it comes to critical thinking about a book, he or she doesn’t even know where to start.

I’m not sure this is the correct forum/site to learn about careers–high schoolers don’t have that kind of experience.

@Lullies
Please do not post about topics that you are unfamiliar with. Math geniuses certainly do not like math because they’re good at memorizing stuff.

yeah biology may be memorization. but math is definitely not memorization…

I disagree. Math and science are overrated. The future lies in studying ethnic groups. Is this not obvious?

^LOOOOOOOOL hahhahahah u speeeec

Every time I go on to one of these threads I want to defend the Humanities majors, but then one of them will always say something ****ing stupid like this.

Lol indeed…people these days smh

Take this to the College Life forum.

Depends on the field. It’s not much of a secret that getting a job as a chemist is harder than ever. In the non-STEM corner, it’s also getting harder to find a job as an economist. Still, you’re not limited in jobs in these fields simply because you majored in them.

I woulda thunk that engineers would be expendable. We’re still talking about job security, right?

There are more jobs in academia for STEM types, but otherwise, I wouldn’t say there’s a hard&fast rule. Unless you want to be a high school teacher, I wouldn’t force yourself to major in a STEM field.

cormy has entirely too many puppets these days.

These debates are the high school equivalent of 4th graders talking about sex.
