I've always really liked animals and have wanted to farm, but I don't have any EC's related to it. I'm in AP Bio right now, and that's pretty much the only indicator in my application that I could be interested in Animal Science.

I'd probably apply to A & S as a history or English major, but would I have ANY chance at ALS? Probably would apply to this ALS as my secondary choice.

I don't feel like re-typing my whole application, but I have a 31, 3.92 UW, 10 AP classes, editor in chief of nationally award winning paper (Gold Crown/Pacemaker), president of three clubs, etc.

I was just accepted ED as an Animal Science major at CALS, and my best guess is that if you’d like to major in it, you should start getting some experience now. I’ve noticed that CALS seems to place a very high emphasis on clearly demonstrating a passion for your major or area of study, and seeing as my grades are not the best, I strongly believe that my extracurriculars (all of which lean heavily towards animals) were the biggest factor in determining my acceptance. I would suggest volunteering at an animal shelter, shadowing at a veterinary clinic, or just gaining as much experience with animals as you can–enough to reflect it in your essays, if you’re doing the alternate choice thing.
