Can anyone tell me about the Ag Dept.? Anything anyone would like to offer would be appreciated. Are most students in state? Do they go home every weekend? Are the professors quality and do they speak English well? Are your intro. classes huge? Are any majors within the department stronger than others? Any must dos or don’ts?

I can’t say a lot but we visited and toured their ag dept. Everyone seemed very nice. The had a strong animal science dept., mainly large animals. Farm units a little far away but nice. All the profs we met seemed like they would be good. When we visited there was massive construction and I think that turned S off. We chose the Ag school at Kansas State instead.
momocarly when did you visit? Does Kansas State seem like as a large school? What did your son like better about KS ag?
We visited 2 years ago. I hear that the construction is finished now. KS has about 25,000 students. It felt large but not overwhelming. He liked the ag dept because of the people. A prof stopped what she was doing randomly and passionately discussed her major. He sat in a class and they let him extract DNA. Every student we met loved it there and every faculty member was helpful. He loved the vet school and the scholarships he got. The vet school was very nice to him and gave him great advice. He loved the new dorm and that all the ag units were very close to campus. I feel like the bottom line was that they treated him as if they wanted him and the atmosphere was great. He also loved the travel abroad options and the honors college.
