schools:

Dartmouth

Vanderbilt

UCSB

UCLA

Duke

Emory

University of Florida

USC

USMA

USNA

Sorry bout Duke and Dartmouth. You need a bit higher SAT score.

WoW4201:

UCLA: Reach
UCSB: Match

Your chances at Duke, Dartmouth, UCLA, and UCB are pretty low.

Duke's a great school but hard to get into worth a try. Might want to look at a school like Holy Cross-very good school 1 hour from Boston. HC has good combination academics and athletics/social life. Also Holy Cross seeks Catholics and non-Catholics like Georgetown does.

Don't put Who's Who Among High School Students or National Honor Roll on your application...everyone gets them

'"Your chances at Duke, Dartmouth, UCLA, and UCB are pretty low"

I dont wanna go to UCB lol those dang hippies..its UCSB but thats ok :)

Thanks par72 but I dont think its for me.

Collegegrl88 its too late!! I already did for the USNA and USMA haha, oh well I knew they were bad when I put them so w/e.

Since I havent heard any negative things about USC, Emory, and U of F does that mean those are reachable?

can anyone help me w/ USC, U of F, and Emory?

I think that all those schools are reaches for someone with a 3.2 UW GPA.

arggh i never mentioned my upward trend gpa w/ a 4.4 last yr and i am taking 4 AP's as a senior whereas i only took 3 before thi yr

What is your GPA using this scale, only academic classes (Math, Science, English, History/Social Studies, Foreign Languages), sophomore and junior year?

A+ (100+) 4.0
A (93-100) 4.0
A- (90-93) 3.66
B+ (87-90) 3.33
B (83-87) 3.0
B- (80-83) 2.66
C+ (77-80) 2.33
C (73-77) 2.0
C- (70-73) 1.66

This will help us further evaluate your "chances"

U of F determines GPA based on the FLORIDA SCALE, meaning that the posting above is irrelevent. A is 4, B is 3, C is two, and so on, so on. Honors and AP both only recieve ONE bonus point, and for semester classes, one recieves 1/2 of a bonus point for AP or Honors. I think your chances at U of F are actually good. U of F is known to like non-floridians, simply because so many floridans make up their applicant pool, and because of Jeb Bush's bright futures program, nonfloridians pay a hell of a lot more than the florida kids. I reccomend an incredible community service project, one that you direct. In order to advance your application, take an interview if they offer one. U of F is reknown for partying and their huge number of National Merit Applicants (I know it doesn't add up), so look serious, intelligent, and bright, and you should do well. Good Luck!

Coluhopeful - Michigan does the same with A's, B's, and C's, counting as 4's, 3's, and 2's. So that is correct, but the majority of colleges will be using the standard scale listed above.

Do you use freshmen grades too with that scale? or no?

Dartmouth- Very low chances

Vanderbilt- Low Chances

UCSB- Match-pretty decent chance of getting in

UCLA- Low chances

Duke- Very low chances

Emory- Low chances

University of Florida- See UCSB

USC- Reach. Worth applying to though, unlike Duke/Dartmouth
