Duke's a great school but hard to get into worth a try. Might want to look at a school like Holy Cross-very good school 1 hour from Boston. HC has good combination academics and athletics/social life. Also Holy Cross seeks Catholics and non-Catholics like Georgetown does.

U of F determines GPA based on the FLORIDA SCALE, meaning that the posting above is irrelevent. A is 4, B is 3, C is two, and so on, so on. Honors and AP both only recieve ONE bonus point, and for semester classes, one recieves 1/2 of a bonus point for AP or Honors. I think your chances at U of F are actually good. U of F is known to like non-floridians, simply because so many floridans make up their applicant pool, and because of Jeb Bush's bright futures program, nonfloridians pay a hell of a lot more than the florida kids. I reccomend an incredible community service project, one that you direct. In order to advance your application, take an interview if they offer one. U of F is reknown for partying and their huge number of National Merit Applicants (I know it doesn't add up), so look serious, intelligent, and bright, and you should do well. Good Luck!

Coluhopeful - Michigan does the same with A's, B's, and C's, counting as 4's, 3's, and 2's. So that is correct, but the majority of colleges will be using the standard scale listed above.
