AHH Chances!

SAT 780M, 770V (1550) two sittings. will this hurt me?
SAT II (800 Physics) (800 MathIIC) (690 Writing) (oops!)
AP Physics B (5)

Straight A's but due to Phy ED rank = 6/160

However, I come from a public school that has seen no apps to HYPSMC in the past many years, ut don't include any comments on amazing research, cuz, well, I don't have any. I am teaching myself AP Physics C, and will also complete my own research project later this year.

Two "best in years" recs from govt and phys teachers.

Am taking 4 APs (english, chem, calc, and self-taught physics C), which is all my school has
3 years German

I want to major in physics with a certificate in applied physics. Any word on my chances for Regular Decision. (I am kicking myself for not applying early!)

SAT 780M, 770V (1550) two sittings. will this hurt me?

Nope! Not at all

Your SAT2s are great, even with that Writing, really, but it'd be nice to boost it if you can. But your scores are great, standalone.

EC's
Big into drummin'

Excellent :) A fellow drummer. I forgot to include that I drummed on my ED app! Aahhh!

ECs are pretty good too... overall I'd say you have a pretty darn good chance.

You have just as good of a chance as any other well-qualified applicant. It's pretty much a cr-pshoot over at P-ton, so good luck! Here's to hoping for the best!

hi jerew, sounds like you and i would get along... i'm a jazz musician and big time frisbee player :)... sounds like you've got a good shot... and we're both from rural areas too.

When do I need to get this P-ton interview over with? Chances?

You guys are the coolest!

Hey, anyone know if it is better to submit Princeton's application or the Common App. The teacher I am asking to write my letter lives in Wisconsin, and I live in Minnesota. He is already going to write common app recs for me for Cornell and Harvard. I was just curious if it made a difference. As you can see, I need all the help I can get!

Princeton is looking for kids from schools that they normally don't get applicants from. This should help you. Do the common app. Most of the RD applicants are using it.

i would use princeton's own app. its jsut a few ticks and they prob send the same letter anyway.

cookiemom, are you suer that they want ppl from schools that have never sent anyone to pton?

i would go w/ the princeton app as well. its essentially the same as the common w/ just a few differences. princeton says they dont care which one they get but i have a feeling theres an underlying opinion that they like those that use their app since they went through the trouble of making it.

Yes. The new Dean of Admissions has made this one of her priorites and has made statements about it in articles in the Princeton newspaper. A Princeton rep came to my son's school for the first time in years. No one has gone to Princeton from his school in 10 years. During his interview he was asked why more kids don't apply to Princeton. I told him he should have said, "Well if I don't get in no one will ever apply again!"

Well, thanks, I have both. I suspected that perhaps the Princeton app would be better.

Ok, so now that i look at it, the RD admit rate is 6-8%! AHHHH!!! Anyway, in light of this, my own insecurites are telling me to bump this thread. Just for fun, anyone care to throw out percent chances? I know that it is inaccurate, but hey, i got to go on something till April!

PS, I am adding that i got straight A's in all of my classes first tri. Also, is it a big deal that my physics teacher checked every "top" box (all excellent and best in career) for everything except for EC (top 5%). He, unfortunately, says that he has only been teaching for a few years in the letter.

I'm bumping cuz some of you need something to do as you wait for your ED results.
