ahh what should i do?

I am taking four classes right now
Anatomy 5 units
Gen Chem 5 units
Human Sexuality 3 units
Calculus 1 4 units

so heres my problem..I just bombed my second test in calc and I have a 65%, I dont know if i should drop it and get a W or try and pull myself up and go for a B, I know i can get a C for sure but i dont know if it will drop my chances because I am applying to ucla and uci this november, also I should probably get A's in the other 3. thanks.

is calc prereq for your major?

raise the grade

Are you on a quarter or semester system?

calc is not a prereq for my major, i am a anthropology major and we are on the semester system. So ur saying that a C is better than a W?

Without the fourth class, you wouldn't be a full-time student. Dropping the class now means you won't get some of your money back. Therefore, you lose money, and become part-time student...Do you want that?

Take the W, just make sure you don't withdraw from anymore classes this academic year.

well i already have 1 w, do you think the uc's will rather have me get 3 a's and 1 c or 3 a's and a w.

oh and the W is from last year, and i already retook the class.

UCs don't give a **** about W's unless you have a ****load of them. I'd drop the course.. especially since you're an anthro major

well, the reason im asking is because someone told me today that the uc's wont be too keen on me dropping the course, and that i should jus get the C.

drop>C
drop<B

damn, this is a ****ing hard decision. thanks.

I'd say Take the W. Calc gets harder as time moves on...

in regards to dropping classes, I have a political science class Im debating dropping and taking next term with a different prof.
should I stick it out and try to get a B, or should i take the W and retake it next term. I normally wouldnt worry but since it is a pre-req for my major which I am applying to this year I think that might be a problem. plus my gpa will be around a 3.3 after this term, so I need all the help I can get.

drop the class in my opinion, i also agree with this:

"drop>C
drop<B"

but i wouldn't risk it, calc does get relatively much more difficult at the end of the semester when antiderivatives, etc. are introduced

EDIT: by the way, he'd still have 13 credits even though it's only three classes so he would still be a full-time student

brownfx, just a question to ask you:

You told me you did horribly on your 2nd test. Is it because you've made silly mistakes (lots of them), or because you were just totally clueless about the material?

if it's the first reason (made lots of mistakes but you understand most of the material), then DONT DROP. If it's the second reason (you are completely clueless), then DROP IT IMMEDIATELY before the drop deadline passes.

and if getting a B on calculusI worries you concerning your admission to UCLA, I would recommend you taking CalcII and get an A on it. Calc II builds up on Calc I material, and by getting an A on that class, it shows that you've mastered not only Calc II, but also the Calc I material, and will make up for the B you earned in Calc I.

well dhl3, i did bad because of little mistakes that added up, and there was just one section of material that i didnt understand how to do.

antiderivatives doesnt seem hard to me though, i think im going to just stick it out and try my best.
