you guys, i just had my interview and the guy was conservative…what are the chances of that. I’m glad i didn’t say anything politically off-putting.
he talked. a lot. like the whole time. he only asked my two questions which i did my best to elaborate on, but he seriously talked for 30 of the 45 minutes the interview lasted. is that a bad sign?

no, at best the interview is mostly used for the school to sell themselves to you.

What two questions?

Mine went the same way--he was a new interviewer, wasn't sure what he was supposed to ask me, so he talked almost the whole hour, answering my questions. It went really well, but I wonder what he could think of to tell the school about me!

he asked me about my high school and past, but not into any great detail at all
and also the big "why brown?" question.
i don't even know why I was nervous. or why i did any preparation.

So there ARE conservatives at Brown! lol, but he may have changed since graduating.

I don't think your interview went badly though; it was just his fault he talked too much, but if he had a good time talking, he'll have a good impression of you and write a good report.

I disagree that the purpose of the interview is to sell the school to you.

My dd just had a Brown interview with a professor at a Calif. college. She doesn't usually interview and only went to Grad school at Brown, so dd didn't ask questions. She's used to writing letters of rec, though, which is nice. They talked for 2 hours and the interviewer just asked general "tell me about your classes" type questions. Overall it seemed to go well and she got a nice compliment.
