I just had my interview and I think it went great ;] We talked about all kinds of stuff from books to cats!! For those of you who are worried about your interview, don’t be; it was really casual and she wasn’t even writing anything down. It was about 45 min.

congrats! i hope it's a good omen!

I know! My interview with Brown was wonderful... he was so cool

Mine was... only ok. I met the guy at his office and he almost never smiled..... tough crowd.

What kinds of questions did they ask you?

Hmm she asked the basic questions - "How did you get interested in Brown" and "Why Brown?" and "What will you contribute to Brown?" and then she just talked about her own reasons for going to Brown and how much she enjoyed it, and then she let me ask her some questions.

Congrats on such a great interview! Mine is tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous. It's sort of a weird setting. Apparently, my interviewer takes all his interviewees to dinner. Any tips?

"Apparently, my interviewer takes all his interviewees to dinner."

Wow, you're lucky lol

Lol, Just be yourself and think of it as just having dinner with a friend and having a normal conversation. And then of course, thank him for the free dinner ;]

According to my 7th grade home and careers class, when on an interview at dinner, one should never order alcohol or lobster, or steak. And never tuck one's napkin into one's shirt. Or scrape the silverware.

Yeah, my Brown went awesome too. The guy was so nice and I felt like we had a lot in common.

Sunkist, what kind of restaurant is he taking you to?

We're meeting at a Japanese restaurant. Thanks for all the tips, guys! I couldn't sleep last night because I was so afraid that I would screw up in some way. Your tips have made me feel better.

I'm from SoCal and they said my interview would be by Email???
does anybody know how this works????? should i do it? is it good to ever decline?

Yeah, just do it. It probably won't be as good as an in-person, but on the flip side, you'll get to plan your responses and say exactly what you want to say. I wouldn't turn it down.

had my interview abut 2 weeks ago. reading the posts i thought it would be loaded on "why brown" but that question NEVER came up. it seemed hidden in other questions. but i think she was looking more at independence, interests, motivation, perphaps. i got all tied up on deciding in what to wear so i went in a little more formal wear than what i would wear to school: dress pants, blouse. it went pretty smooth.. some pointed questions... about 1/2 hour.

feel free to ask me any questions... :)

my interveiw was almost a week ago and was very similar; casual, friendly and a few why brown type questions. it was interesting, when i said my main interest for a school activity was marching band, she asked "oh, so you know what the brown band gets to do?" .. and she was looking to make sure i knew enough about brown in particular to answer "yes, they get to iceskate!" i liked her for that, the subtle questions to make sure that i was serious about brown and not just applying because,... well come on, its brown.
congrats to all of you with great interviews! best of luck to everybody on april 1st!

hey guys! i just got back from my interview. like most of you, there were only a few brown questions. i really enjoyed it. it was more like a conversation rather than a interview. he only wrote down a few things. he really tried to get to know me and get a grasp of my situation. i was very comfortable and it went for a little over an hour.

he did tell me something interesting though. he said that the way the interviews work are applicants are essentially screened and the first round gets interviews. everyone else gets interviews if the interviewers have time after Feb. 28. also, the interview only counts for 5%. so, yay for everyone who has been offered an interview! good luck! :)

wow, anyone can back sunkist up? if u get an itnerview u "passed" a first screen?

kingroger317: I'm in SoCal and interviewed by phone with an alum on the East coast.
It was OK. They said there just aren't enough interviewers given the large number of applicants from SoCal.

Yeah, I was really surprised when my interviewer told me about the "first screen" thing. Also, he did mention that there weren't enough interviewers for SoCal applicants. In fact, I'm not in his region. I was pushed over to his list of people to interview.
