another chances thread. so sorry. but i need to know if i'd be completely wasting my time here... my SAT scores are horrible (1910). does anyone here know anyone who has gotten into stanford with a similar score?? im pretty sure i did a lot better on oct 6 but cant really know until i get the scores back. i realize they take many other things into consideration but id just like to know if they will reject me automatically because of those scores, regardless of the rest of my app. (im from puerto rico btw, though i doubt that will make any difference with stanford )

Being from Puerto Rico might make a big difference actually. I'm currently a freshman at Stanford and there are at least two people in my dorm with scores lower than that. One is Hispanic and she thinks that that may have contributed.
Don't give up hope completely!

yours is my favorite post in all cc. lol. im pretty sure that stanford is a very high, near-impossible reach for me, those that got in with such low scores must have done something truly amazing. in any case, i think location might help me the most; there are plenty of puertoricans with great scores, but im positive that very few of them (probably none), are from my town or region. and id def b the first student from my school to apply, dunno if that matters tho. im just gonna write the best essays i can and see what happens b/c i know i'll always regret it if i dont at least try.

don't give up hope. make up for it in other areas...

just got oct sat scores. superscore is 2010. math is terrible (570). so its 730reading/ 570 math/ 710 writing. stanford is going to laugh at me but im still applying...

I do know people with ~1800 scores. But they got in not through academics, but through say, 14 years of piano or Olympic swimmer. If you don't have something like that, you chance is like zero....sorry.

like what was said some people come with perfect scores and nothing else, others have average scores but they are great at something else like sports. everyone here is smart in their own way.

now if you have that SAT score then you should emphasize how your ECs make up for it.
