Hello,
For the current spring semester thats ending in 2 weeks, i am taking 14 credits. For the summer, i am only taking 3 credits. I just received a bill for the summer tuition, and i will like to know if it is possible to apply for some kind of finical aid for the summer? During the spring semester i had various aids like Pell, TAP, and a few scholarships.

Most financial aid requires at least 1/2 time attendance. You may have to take at least 6 hrs to qualify for ANY aid. Check with your school -there may be a process to request summer aid.

Most federal aid does require at least half time enrollment for the summer.

Did you only attend school in the spring? Or did you attend fall and spring? That may make a difference to what you are eligible for. For instance if you only attended in Spring then you have only received part of the years Pell award so may be eligible for some part of your remaining Pell grant. If you attended fall and spring then you may be eligible for additional Pell depending on the new rules under the recently passed budget and whether you meet the criteria. You do have to be enrolled at least 1/2 time to get the 2nd Pell for the summer, I’m not sure about for the balance of your regular year Pell.

Federal loans require at least 1/2 time enrollment.

Whether a scholarship covers summer classes would depend on the terms of the scholarship.

[Financial Aid: Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)](http://www.bmcc.cuny.edu/finaid/grants/tap.html)

If you scroll down you will see that it appears summer TAP requires at least half time enrollment, but using TAP in the summer uses up part of your future TAP entitlement.
I google for info on TAP and found the following at a school website.

The Spring semester is my first semester at this college

I also filed the 2011-2012 fafsa for the fall-spring semester that coming up this year

You will not be eligible for loans at less than half time. If you have only attended one semester in the award year, you are still using your first Pell award, so you will receive Pell at the less than half time prorated amount. I should warn that at some EFC amounts, there is no Pell payout at less than half time. Consult a 2010-11 Pell chart to find the less than half time payment for your EFC/school COA.

this is what i found on my college site. I dont think i will be eligible for any aid since i only started in the Spring 2011 as a full time student

You should be eligible for aid. You are still in first Pell, so you don’t need to meet the at-least-6-credit requirement many students will need to meet in summer (because they fall under 2nd Pell of the year rules).

The issue is your EFC. What is it? Some EFC’s are high enough that the Pell doesn’t pay at less than a certain number of credits.
