AIME I 2012 Discussion

Hi all,

This is the official thread for the AIME I 2012. Please refrain from posting answers.

I will be taking it tomorrow morning...good luck everyone! PM me for discussion afterwards....

How do you feel? I'm so nervous...

I’m going to do so bad. Got a 9 last year and made USAMO, but rejection from MIT really sucks.

I just took it. PM me with proof and we can discuss.

I just took it. PM me and we can discuss 1-10 answers

Sorry for the double post…

I got 5/15. I got 1 wrong mistakenly -__-. Does anyone know how to do number 5 pm me please

PM me to discuss if you have proof. I’ll provide proof as well

Took it in the morning. PM me to compare: I can provide proof to discuss.

Damn that was hard I think I got around 4-5.

A bit unrelated, but should you write your AIME score (instead of just that you qualified) on your college applications for schools other than MIT/CalTech?

any projections for JMO cutoff? I’m so worried about misbubbling…

also pm me to discuss #8

We are not supposed to discuss any aspect of the contest, including its difficulty, projected scores, and USA(J)MO cutoffs, until tomorrow.

i got a 9… should’ve gotten a 14. o.o pm me for answer discussion

got #1 wrong. nuff said. gf usamo

just got raped…

pm me the answers we can discuss

I got a 9 or an 8 depending on whether I got question 8 right. I also got #1 wrong. I didn’t think it was too bad, but then again I found 2010 more difficult than 2011, so my difficulty judgments aren’t exactly reliable. So index either 198 or 188. Hopefully either cutoff is lower than usual (and by usual I mean not last year) or I qualify by default since I live in a noob state. Pm me to discuss number 8 though.

Taking the AIME II. Ugh :(

Can someone please PM the answers for 1-15? I answered only the first 8 and #10.

My brain cells just got all sucked out . . . I did 9 of them, then skipped 6, 9-10, and 13-15 because the wording was touchy and/or I blanked out on the formulas.

And to top it all, I half-guessed about two-thirds of what I did. Also, did anyone else just do all the problems that they ended up answering in the first hour?

Hopefully, the cutoff is lower than last year’s - wth, 210?! Nowhere close :(
