Hey guys,
Like many others, I’m working hard to improve my standings to see if getting into the School of Computer Science is achievable for me. I’m currently a junior in high school, and if it matters, I’m a white male (I’ve noticed it seems to matter). Regardless, I have academics that would put me into the consideration pile, I believe.
Overall GPA (9th-10th): 94/100 on weighted scale
For junior year, my GPA is actually around a 97.
Specifically, math has always been an A for me, and for at least one quarter this year, a 103.
One AP for 10th, 3 this year, 5 next year, including AP Calculus BC. I took AP Computer Science this year and I expect to get a 5 on the exam. All other classes are honors (besides band).
I do marching band, jazz band, wind ensemble, I’m an Eagle Scout, I have some apps on the App Store and I’ve made lots of websites before, teaching myself how to years back. I believe that would show a dedicated interest in CS.
Just got my SAT back, with 720 on math and 690 on reading/writing, netting me a 1410. I’m currently working to improve that score to around 780 for the next test.
I intend on applying Early Decision. I’ve also been demonstrating dedicated interest, because I love the campus. Took an interview with a guidance counselor, a tour, and a specific tour of ECE. I need to go back just to look at the whole SCS building at some point.
What else should I be worrying about besides SAT and SAT Subject Test improvements? What else will improve my chance at getting in?
